In-person introduction to improv class for adults. No experience necessary! Meets for 8 classes at the Harrisburg Improv Theatre, 1633 N 3rd St Harrisburg, PA.

This class will teach students the basic principles of long-form improv comedy. Learn how to create scenes based on audience suggestions, how to develop characters, and how to say “yes, and” to your scene partners.

No prior experience in improv or theatre is necessary or expected. Many of our Level 1 students have never before been on a stage! Our Level 1 class is designed to help people feel comfortable on stage, learn the basics, make some new friends, and have fun!

This class culminates in two, optional graduation class shows:

Graduation shows: Friday, June 20th @7pm & Sunday, June 22nd @7pm.

*Each student receives a Student Pass to attend live improv shows at the HIT for FREE for the entire 8 weeks of the class! ($336 value) [Shows are every Friday and Saturday night]

Students are permitted to miss up to 2 classes.

All classes at the HIT are non-refundable.

Vanessa Codorniu

Vanessa Gonzalez Codorniu has been performing at the HIT since 2018.

She got her start in scripted theater in middle school and NYC’s PRTTU (Puerto-Rican Traveling Theater Training Unit) and as a member of PRIDE (Puerto-Rican Inter-Cultural Drama Ensemble) falling in love with Improv when she moved to Harrisburg.

She’s trained at the HIT, Baltimore Improv Group and a summer intensive at The Magnet Theater. She’s directed at Marist College, Hunter College and Nuyorican Poets’s Cafe. As a trainer with the Bella Abzug Leadership Institute in NYC, she’s taught improv workshops on Communication and Collaboration to hundreds of teens.

Vanessa is the founder of LoS CoMpliCaDos - the first Latino Improv group in Central PA. Vanessa believes that improv is a powerful tool for mindfulness and connection and brings it to family gatherings, parties and her own self-care retreats. She currently performs with Leg of Lamp, The Bond Fire Society, The Offbeats and her own pop spirituality inspired team, Cosmic Trash.

When Vanessa isn't taking her alternative healing work seriously, she's on stage making fun of it.
