Introductory improv class for kids ages 13-17! No prior experience necessary! Meets Thursdays for 6 weeks at The Harrisburg Improv Theatre, 1633 N 3rd St., Harrisburg.
Students will explore storytelling, teamwork, fun, and creativity while learning the basics of improv: building scenes from suggestions, agreement, and cooperation with others.
Teenprov class culminates in an optional graduation show.
Graduation show: Saturday, May 3rd, 7-8pm
Students are allowed to miss a class.
Lisa Weitzman
Lisa Lutton Weitzman is an adjunct theater instructor at Harrisburg Area Community College. She holds an MA in drama from Villanova University and a BS in education from Penn State. Lisa has over thirty years’ experience performing and teaching in the Harrisburg and Philadelphia areas. For sixteen of those years, she was the theater teacher/director at the Capital Area School for the Arts in Harrisburg.
In her long career as an actor, she has graced the stages of Gamut Theatre, Theatre Harrisburg, Open Stage of Harrisburg, PA Renaissance Faire, as well as stages in Philadelphia. Since retiring from public school, Lisa has been loitering around the Harrisburg Improv Theater, improvising, and loving the vibe and awesome community of players!
DuJuan Dixon
Introducing DuJuan "Juan99" Dixon, the innovative mind reshaping the entertainment
landscape through the dynamic realm of 99 Characters Entertainment. From his origins
as a stand-up comedian, Juan99 has evolved into a powerhouse, steering a creative
empire and playing a pivotal role in talent development for casting directors, essentially
serving as a mentor and agent for aspiring artists.
Entrepreneurial Journey:
In 2016, Juan99 founded 99 Characters Entertainment, a multifaceted venture
specializing in events, tours, and showcases. Collaborating with industry icons like Mr.
Cheeks, Fred Da God Son, and Bruh Man, he solidified partnerships with media giants
including thisis50.com, Worldstar Hip Hop, WSHR, AAMG, GUnit, and Konvict Records.
Creative Collaborations:
As the orchestrator behind Hyena Skits (The Creative Collaborative), Juan99 curated
viral sketches with millions of views. Their collaborations featured viral comedians such
as Randy Pyron and Tay Joseph TV, and they played a key role in the production of
Hershey Park's Dark Nights commercial. Producing three films, they earned five awards
for 48-hour short films broadcasted on DATV Comcast Spectrum TV.
Tri-99tv:
Juan99's brainchild, Tri-99tv, known as "the Netflix for independent creators," offers a
diverse platform for talents on Roku, Firetv, Apple TV, and the Mobile app store. Recently
serving as a media partner for Trina's concert by AACA, Tri-99tv continues to be a
trailblazer in independent content distribution.
Events and Promotions:
Beyond entertainment, Juan99's influence extends to event organization, from Comedy
Roasts to Music Showcases and the groundbreaking "Blackest Thing Ever," featuring an
Improv talk show. His successful partnerships include collaborations with The Mind
Body and Soul Expo and Grammy Award-winning Mr. Cheeks.
Creating Opportunities:
Dedicated to fostering opportunities, Juan99 manages emerging talents and imparts
improv skills to kids at Milton Hershey School, underscoring his commitment to
nurturing diverse backgrounds within the entertainment industry. Additionally, as a
proud graduate and house manager for the Harrisburg Improv Theater, he enriches the
local comedy scene.
Community Engagement:
Juan99 served as the Chairman for Juneteenth Harrisburg 2023, overseeing the
production of the celebrated "Mash Up" event. Through this role, he contributed
significantly to the cultural richness and inclusivity of the community, demonstrating his
commitment to meaningful civic engagement. As a former board member of The New
Music Movement, he has actively shaped the future of the music industry.
